A Life-Changing Experience Teaching in Jaipur I had the incredible opportunity to teach at a slum school in Jaipur, India, and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. A Life-Changing Experience Teaching in Jaipur
I had the incredible opportunity to teach at a slum school in Jaipur, India, and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

The school experience was deeply enlightening. While we would have appreciated more guidance on what learning materials to bring, the time spent teaching was incredibly rewarding. For many of the children, we were offering the only formal education they might ever receive—a reality that was humbling and at times emotionally challenging.
More than anything, my time in India reminded me of the things that truly matter in life. And perhaps the strongest endorsement I can give Volunteering With India (VWI) is this: we loved the experience so much that we’re already planning to return and continue supporting the school.
An Unforgettable 6 Weeks with VWI in Jaipur I would wholeheartedly recommend Volunteering With India (VWI) to anyone seeking a pleasing, fulfilling, and truly authentic volunteering experience abroad. I joined the teaching project, where I had the opportunity to build real connections with both the community and school children. The kids were incredibly friendly, curious, and eager to learn. Seeing their smiles and watching them grow in confidence and knowledge was a deeply moving experience—one of those rare, rewarding feelings that words can barely describe. The time I spent with them has created memories that I will carry with me forever.
In addition to the volunteering work, the program also included sightseeing tours of Jaipur, the Pink City. I got to visit iconic landmarks like Amber Palace, Monkey Temple, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and many more. These trips were such a fun way to explore the vibrant culture and history of India.
The six weeks I spent in Jaipur with VWI flew by, and I honestly didn’t want to leave. It was a wonderful experience that blended meaningful service with cultural immersion and personal growth.
If you’re looking for a volunteering experience that is impactful, joyful, and unforgettable—I highly recommend VWI.

6 Weeks in Jaipur – A Life-Changing Experience
I had a wonderful time in India volunteering for the Teaching Project in Jaipur with Volunteering With India (VWI). Over my 6-week journey, I met many incredible people, made close Indian friends, traveled to stunning historical sites, and tasted some of the most delicious Indian food.
The time I spent at the school center was truly meaningful. Working with the children every day taught me so much about life. I volunteered from August to September, a perfect time to visit Jaipur—the rains had just passed, and the green hills surrounding the city looked beautiful.
The children were sometimes naughty, but always full of love and curiosity. They’d give me their toys, ask me to write my name in their notebooks, and crowd around me excitedly in class. Their innocent hearts softened mine—they don’t yet know what’s good or bad, they’re just natural and pure. I truly hope they grow up happily and healthily.
During my stay, I lived with a kind Indian host family. A caretaker cleaned my room daily, and I was served three home-cooked meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—all of which were incredibly tasty. I didn’t spend all my time at home though—thanks to the warm hospitality of my Indian friends and the VWI team, I was often invited to local homes, enjoyed traditional snacks, and visited so many beautiful places based on their recommendations.
One of the things that fascinated me most about India was its rich spiritual and cultural traditions. I learned about the many gods and legends—like the cobra god and the elephant-faced god (Ganesha). It was all so mysterious and captivating. I didn’t experience culture shock—instead, I discovered new and interesting customs. I learned to eat with my hands, saw cows roaming freely in the streets, and admired how deeply each family held their beliefs.
The only real challenge I faced was the traffic—it was quite intense, and I was nervous to cross the road at times! But I even picked up a useful skill: bargaining with auto rickshaw drivers! I learned how to ask them to go by meter, and to be clear about directions to avoid being overcharged.
This journey gave me so many warm memories. I fell in love with Indian people, Indian culture, and Indian food. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and I’ll definitely recommend it to my friends. If you’re looking for something meaningful, eye-opening, and full of heart—this is it.
