Acerca del programa
Looking to make a difference in the lives of orphaned children in India? Our Programa de voluntariado en orfanatos is based in Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, famously known as the Pink City. With the city expanding rapidly, the number of orphaned and abandoned children has grown significantly. Many of these children lack access to basic health, education, and sanitation facilities, making your contribution as a volunteer invaluable.
Why Volunteer at an Orphanage in India?
Every child deserves love, attention, and a nurturing environment. Unfortunately, poverty, lack of awareness, disease, abandonment, and the loss of parents often leave children without proper care. Volunteering provides a chance to bring light into their lives through compassion, guidance, and support. Your presence can create a lasting emotional and educational impact on a child’s future while giving you a profound sense of fulfillment.
Volunteer Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will actively contribute to the growth and well-being of children aged 0 to 18 years. Your responsibilities include:
- Teaching basic English and Mathematics
- Helping children with school homework
- Organizing hygiene and health awareness activities
- Promoting daily sanitation habits like brushing and bathing
- Creating fun sessions in drawing, singing, dancing, and games
- Assisting with meal preparation and food distribution
- Providing emotional support and mentorship
- Helping in basic administration tasks as needed
Skills Required
No prior experience or formal qualifications are required. All you need is a caring heart, patience, and a passion for helping children. This program is ideal for anyone who enjoys spending time with children and wants to immerse themselves in Indian culture while making a meaningful difference.
What You Will Gain from This Project
- Meaningful connections with children who will cherish your time
- Personal fulfillment and emotional growth
- Cultural exchange through daily interaction with locals
- Valuable experience to enhance your CV
- Lifelong memories and global friendships
- Life membership with Volunteering With India after project completion
Language Support
Language is not a barrier in this program. Most host families, staff, and older children understand basic English. For those interested in deeper cultural immersion or personal learning, an optional Hindi language course is available for 90 minutes per day, Monday to Friday, at $150 per week. This can be requested when applying online.

The host family at the guest house was warm, friendly, and truly made me feel at home. They went out of their way to accommodate my food preferences, adjusting the spice levels and making sure every meal was enjoyable.
The program itself was incredibly rewarding. My time at Taabar is something I will always cherish. The children were full of love and enthusiasm—they made me feel welcome by teaching me Hindi words and sharing the games they love to play. Being able to teach them essential life skills like reading, writing, and speaking English was an experience that left a lasting impact on me.
I would happily rate this program 5 stars. If you’re looking to give back while immersing yourself in India’s culture, VWI is the perfect choice.
I spent 8 incredible weeks in Jaipur with Volunteering With India (VWI), and it’s been a truly unforgettable journey. The project and the children were absolutely wonderful. The arrival pick-up service was smooth and reassuring. My accommodation with the host family was fantastic—the family was warm and welcoming, and the food was really good! It was varied, traditional, and delicious. Sharing the same meals as the children at the center helped me feel even more connected to them.
Transportation during the program was reliable and flexible—especially appreciated on the days I ran a little late. The entire staff team was incredibly supportive and kind, always there when I needed anything.
I’ve absolutely loved this program. It’s honestly hard to say goodbye. If you’re considering volunteering, I highly recommend joining—and staying as long as you possibly can. Forget the constant photo-taking—just live the experience, because it’s one you’ll never want to leave.
10 out of 9 from me!
The beauty of India and the kindness of its people are beyond words—and thanks to Volunteering With India (VWI), I found something truly special: a home away from home. VWI made everything seamless. From the moment I arrived at Jaipur Airport, I was greeted by a team member and transferred safely to my host family’s home. The support was outstanding—Sukret responded to all my pre-departure questions quickly and clearly, which gave me so much peace of mind.
Living with an Indian host family was wonderful. The food was delicious, the room was comfortable, and the family treated me like one of their own. They were always there if I needed help or wanted to explore the town on my own.
One thing that truly shifted my perspective was how relaxed and stress-free life felt in India. There’s less pressure on time and punctuality, which is very different from life back home in the Netherlands. People here live in the moment, and being part of that mindset has changed me—I’ve learned to live with less stress and more presence.
This was more than just a trip—it was a life-changing experience. Everyone should do something like this at least once. I wholeheartedly recommend VWI to anyone looking to volunteer in India.
Volunteering in an orphanage felt like stepping into an entirely different world—almost like space travel. It’s a world that many don’t see and few truly understand. There are children who grow up without knowing the comfort of a parent’s embrace or the security of a home. For them, an orphanage becomes their world—a world that’s profoundly different from the one most of us know. Yet, despite this, these children are full of love, resilience, and joy. They welcome you with open hearts, even if you arrive as a stranger.
During my time at the orphanage with Volunteering With India (VWI), I was touched by the deep connection I formed with the children. Whether helping with homework, teaching English, or simply playing games, I felt an unspoken bond growing stronger each day. Their warmth and openness reminded me of the true meaning of love and family—and made me cherish my own even more.
VWI is doing something incredibly important. Their programs offer hope, connection, and change—not just for the children, but for every volunteer who walks through their doors. The organization is well-structured, supportive, and deeply impactful.
I wholeheartedly recommend VWI to anyone with a desire to give back. This isn’t just volunteering—it’s a life lesson in gratitude, compassion, and humanity.
