A Heartwarming and Eye-Opening Experience

The arrival pick-up service was excellent—finding the program manager and our driver at Jaipur Airport was incredibly easy, and we were dropped off at our host house without any issues. The accommodation was comfortable and safe, with fresh meals served daily. We truly felt well cared for throughout our stay.

Our daily rickshaw rides to the school were always punctual, and Toto Ram, our driver, made sure we were safe on the road. The project staff were exceptionally kind and supportive, always available to help or answer any questions.

The volunteer experience itself was unlike anything we’ve ever done. We worked with strong, respectful children whose resilience inspired us every day. Teaching them English and Math, with Mr. Govind as our translator, was deeply rewarding—especially as we saw their progress and excitement for learning grow day by day.

This program gave us so much more than we expected, and we’re truly honored to have been part of it. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful and transformative volunteer opportunity.

En tant que père et fille voyageant ensemble pour explorer l'Inde et rendre service par le biais du volontariat, nous avons vécu une expérience incroyable et inoubliable avec VWI.

Le temps que nous avons passé dans le cadre du projet pour les enfants a été tout simplement génial. Chaque jour, nous avons consacré environ 5 heures au centre, aidant à éduquer les enfants, jouant à des jeux et partageant de joyeuses séances de danse. L'énergie et les sourires des enfants ont fait que chaque moment en valait la peine.

Nous sommes tous deux extrêmement satisfaits du programme proposé par VWI. De la délicieuse cuisine maison à l'hébergement propre, en passant par les transports fiables et le soutien du personnel du projet, tout était tout simplement fantastique.

An Enjoyable and Eye-Opening First Volunteering Experience with VWI

As my first-ever volunteering experience, this journey with VWI has been incredibly enjoyable — a beautiful blend of meaningful service, cultural immersion, local festivals, and sightseeing.

What I truly appreciated was the flexibility — I could get involved as much or as little as I wanted, and the VWI staff were always accommodating and supportive of my choices.

From the very first email until the end of my stay, I received clear information, warm hospitality, and ongoing support. Not only did the VWI team arrange accommodation, transportation, and guided visits, but they also invited volunteers to share meals at their homes — a touching gesture that made me feel truly welcomed.

It was inspiring to also visit another school project outside of my assigned one and witness VWI’s broader impact. I had the opportunity to see the Mobile Van Clinic, which travels daily to the slums, providing free medical care to children and families — an initiative that left a deep impression on me.

This trip has been insightful, impactful, and heartwarming, and I am grateful for the experience.

J'ai participé au projet des enfants des rues à Jaipur, où j'ai enseigné l'anglais, les mathématiques, l'art et les jeux à des enfants qui vivaient autrefois dans la rue. C'était incroyablement gratifiant d'entrer en contact avec eux, de voir leurs sourires et de les voir s'intéresser à l'apprentissage.

J'ai également eu la chance de découvrir l'incroyable projet Mobile VAN pour les enfants des bidonvilles et je me suis même essayée à la fabrication de chapatis dans le village des éléphants - un moment tellement amusant et réconfortant !

En plus du travail bénévole, j'ai pu faire l'expérience de la culture indienne, que ce soit en faisant voler des cerfs-volants lors du Holy Day Kite Festival, en visitant un temple de Krishna la nuit ou en participant à la célébration d'un mariage et de fiançailles avec l'équipe du VWI. Yeyyyy ! 🎉

Cette semaine était tout à fait unique - significative, joyeuse et pleine de souvenirs que je garderai pour toujours. J'aimerais vraiment revenir bientôt !

Volunteering with VWI turned my trip from a regular holiday into a life-changing journey — one where I could actually make a difference in someone’s life while discovering India in the most authentic way.

From teaching children, to riding elephants, downing endless cups of chai, feeding peanuts to monkeys, and even attending a 12-hour Indian wedding — every day was a new adventure.

Working with the children rescued from the railway station—many of whom were in transit back home after facing exploitation—was a deeply meaningful experience.
